(Verse 1)
Well, I rolled into town, boots all dusty and worn,
Lookin’ for a good time, but now I’m torn,
‘Cause I’ve had one too many of that whiskey brown,
And I’m spinnin’ like a lasso, can’t keep my feet on the ground.

(Pre-Chorus)
The fiddles are playin’, and the lights are dim,
But I’m trippin’ over cowgirls while the world starts to spin,
My hat’s in the air, but my pride’s on the floor,
Guess I’ve never been this hammered before.

(Chorus)
I’m drunk at a rodeo dance,
Twirlin’ ‘round, but I don’t stand a chance,
Every two-step turns into a stumble,
I’m laughin’ so hard as I try not to tumble.
The cowboys are starin’, and the girls start to glance,
But hey, it’s alright— I’m drunk at a rodeo dance!

(Verse 2)
The band keeps on rockin’, but I’m feelin’ the sway,
Tried to pull a spin, but went the wrong way,
Knocked over a fella wearin’ a 10-gallon hat,
Now he’s chasin’ me ‘round like a bull in the ring, how ’bout that?

(Pre-Chorus)
The beer keeps flowin’, and the night’s a blur,
I’d dance with my boots if I could find where they were,
I’ve lost my partner and half of my mind,
But man, this night’s one hell of a ride!

(Chorus)
I’m drunk at a rodeo dance,
Spinnin’ ‘round in this whiskey romance,
Every shuffle’s a fumble, and every move’s a mess,
But I’m havin’ a ball, I’ll confess.
The crowd’s watchin’ close as I ruin my stance,
But who cares, y’all—I’m drunk at a rodeo dance!

(Bridge)
So if you see me wavin’, don’t expect grace,
I’m here for a good time, not for first place,
And if I hit the floor, well, that’s just my chance,
To get right back up and keep this wild stance!

(Chorus)
Yeah, I’m drunk at a rodeo dance,
Fallin’ in love with every glance,
The lights are spinnin’, and the room is too,
But there’s nothin’ I’d rather do!
With a bottle in hand and a wild romance,
I’m stayin’ right here—drunk at a rodeo dance!

(Outro)
So play me one more song, let’s give it a go,
I may be fallin’, but I’ll put on a show,
I’ll laugh, I’ll stumble, I might even prance,
But I’m havin’ a blast—drunk at a rodeo dance!

Drunk at a Rodeo Dance

by Alan Nafzger (1987)

I rolled into town, boots all a-clack,
Dusty and worn, but I ain’t lookin’ back.
Whiskey in my veins, feet start to prance,
Lord help me now—I’m drunk at a rodeo dance.

The fiddles are cryin’, the lights are all low,
I trip over cowgirls, I’m puttin’ on a show.
Hat’s in the air, pride’s down on the floor,
Been tipsy before, but never this poor.

I’m spinnin’ and twirlin’, can’t catch a chance,
Legs doin’ their own thing in a twisted trance.
The cowboys are starin’, the ladies just glance,
But who cares right now—I’m drunk at the dance!

A spin gone wrong, now I’m feelin’ the sway,
Stumbled on a cowboy, he’s mad as a stray.
He’s chasin’ me ’round, while I’m laughin’ so loud,
This rodeo’s wild, and I’m makin’ ’em proud!

The beer keeps a-flowin’, the night’s in a haze,
Lost my boots, my mind, and half of my ways.
The room spins around me, and I start to prance,
But I’m havin’ a ball—drunk at the dance!

So if you see me, don’t expect grace,
I’m here for the party, not to win any race.
I may hit the floor, but that’s just my chance,
To stumble and laugh, drunk at the rodeo dance!
